Professional sculptor Stefanie Rocknak beat out 265 other artists from 42 states and 13 countries to create a sculpture honoring author and poet Edgar Allan Poe that will be displayed in Boston, Poe’s birthplace. A five-member artist selection committee decided on Rocknak’s stunning work that shows Poe with a suitcase in hand and a raven in front of him.

No wonder she won, holy butts, look at that majestic creature.

Holy shit, I adore this. I wish it was going to be up in time for my visit this summer.

Suspect is in custody!

So proud of the Boston PD and the FBI. Wow, that was so quick.

I almost wish I was in Boston, so I could buy dinner for every police officer I see for the next week.

After several particularly violent months in America, NBC has decided to pull episode four of frosh drama “Hannibal” from its lineup due to the disturbing content involving children murdering other children.

Incident is just another example of TV execs and creatives pulling content in the wake of violent events over the last few months. This week, ABC pushed an episode of “Castle” where Detective Kate Beckett steps on a pressure-sensitive bomb to April 29, though Alphabet may push the episode even further if it is still deemed too insensitive given recent events. What’s more, after the Sandy Hook shooting, Syfy yanked an episode of “Haven,” which featured a school violence storyline. TLC delayed one-off “Best Funeral Ever” and Fox pulled episodes of its Sunday night toon skeins “Family Guy” and “American Dad” that execs felt were inappropriate given what had occurred in Connecticut days earlier.

This just makes me even madder that last week’s episode of Glee featured a school shooting. Fox, you’ve been respectful and sensitive with other shows, but not this one?

The show must go on.

Update: I’ve heard from almost every one of my friends. Cell phones are down, but most everyone has posted on facebook. Has anyone heard from Toby Fox/fwugradiation? He’s the only one who hasn’t facebooked they’re okay.

Seven Emerson students were injured, but all relatively minor.

1. Woken up by a call from my dad, telling me that the missing snow-shoer is his friend, Mitch. There’s an article in today’s paper about it and that was the first he heard about it. Mitch has been missing since Saturday after a really big avalanche. Two others were found and one woman has died.

2. Got to work to realize I left my laptop at home and there were no loaners I could borrow, thus meaning I couldn’t do any work and basically just had to turn right around and go home.

3. Didn’t turn right around and go home because I learned about the bombings in Boston. Read the news for a while, panicked, managed to hear from most of my Bostonian friends to confirm their safety.

4. Finally went home, got laptop, am now in Starbucks preparing to work until they kick me out.

Phew. What a day.

I got my Pax Prime badge in the mail yesterday and it seems legit!

Now I need to finish my costume (which involves:

  1. Dying shirt blue
  2. Adding feathers and epaulets to shirt
  3. Spray-paint hat blue
  4. Add feather, ribbon and badge to hat
  5. Make badge?
  6. Sew skirt )

I can’t stop thinking about how much fun it would be to go to Pax East next year, too. I miss Boston a lot! And my Boston friends, although I think only Toby and Jensen would be at the con. But I like them! I’m trying to convince Seattle friends to make the trek with me and I hope it works out. Pax! Pax! Boston!

Ramler Park in the Fenway area. It’s a bird sanctuary and it’s super small and gorgeous and I love it @__@ Great for reading and hanging out in.

brb going back to have lunch there

Sooooo I graduated from my Master’s program today, which is super awesome cool.

But then my credit card information was stolen (and last month my DEBIT card info was stolen) so now I’m just feeling upset and sad. :(

But… done with school!!!!??? :D

Dorothy Talbye took her three year old daughter, Difficult, to a secluded spot and broke the child’s neck.

The thing that bothers me most about this is that she named her child “Difficult”.

You’d think that would have maybe clued someone in that this woman was a bit off her rocker.
